Her Story

The seed of serving others was planted in the heart of Ms. Stephanie Murray at a young age, by her family; in particular her parents, Eric and Risa Murray and both her grandmothers, LaVonne Gilbert and Evelyn Murray.  She saw them all take family, friends and strangers into their homes when they fell on hard times.  Although they didn't have a lot, they always shared what they had.  On Sunday’s, the church she and her family attended in her childhood, would serve breakfast to about 120 homeless men and women, every week.

From 2004-2006 Stephanie worked in retail, and she began a career in the finance industry, through banking, in 2007. She experienced success in her career while attending college full time.  She progressed in her career moving from the position of a part-time teller to a Senior Relationship Banker at the end of her career there in 2014.

Although she was thriving in her career and in school, she began the journey of single motherhood at the age of nineteen. Misguided choices and lacking relational development lead her into abusive relationships.  At the age of 24 she left her last abusive relationship after a radical encounter with God.

Since then it has been her personal passion to help women and their children who have been in abusive relationships and have grown up in abusive homes.  Through opening her home to multiple women and their children, teaching, counseling, recording videos, leading groups at women's conferences and facilitating a community garden, she has had the pleasure of being a support to women and children ready for a new start.

In 2011 she graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a bachelors in Sociology and a minor in Business Management.  In 2015 she began a career as an AML analyst.  Through this position she has learned even more about the need for disenfranchised women and children where abuse is a way of life.  This knowledge has added understanding and a new perspective needed to serve and help as many women and children as possible. Her honest, transparent, yet compassionate communication allows her to connect with women and their children to encourage them that they too can Journey to their Haven.
